ECCC Update 1

Hey Soul Suckers!

We got some coooool stuff for you today, so stay buckled in!

To start with, we have a look for the final deluxe box art. We have been tweaking the one we had, but honestly weren't happy with it. So we had our main man Dave Youkovich (illustrator for the board) re-do it based off the actual movie prop, and we are super happy with how it turned out. There will be the board game logo on the spine of the book, but other than that, it will just be Ex-Mortis goodness.

IT'S LIT
IT'S LIT

We weren't entirely sure if we shared this with you already (There has been a lot going on). But here's the cover for Evil Dead 2: Revenge of Evil Ed #2! It's jam-packed with Kickstarter cameos and will be coming out soon. You can pre-order it here.

Look at that Deadite Statue of Liberty!

We also have some other cool figure turnarounds we've gotten in that's we're excited to share with you all!

 Production Updates:

  • Figure Optimization. These figures were the ones that needed the most work, now Mohamed is working on cranking out even more at a rapid pace since their original models are less complex. If we need to, we'll be bringing on another sculptor to help Mohamed out.
  • Next week we will be getting Certificates of Authenticity printed and sent to Mike Pasquale for signing. They'll be individually numbered and all that good stuff.
  • We're still working on getting the art + rule book mapped out. We have all the assets! It's just getting them into place and formatting them.
  • All other printed non-game rewards are done and sitting in the Space Goat Storage Unit, waiting to be unleashed...
  • All the print (non-figure) game components are done! We're working with Boda to get colors correct and all that, but the content is there.

Now for ECCC! We are going to be at Emerald City Comicon this year to demo Evil Dead 2 and Terminator.  We have some prototype games made up with some awesome figures, and we'll be sharing those in a second update later this week! If you're at ECCC, just stop by Level 2 Meeting Room 204 to get a chance to play it! The wonderful folks at Lynnvander and Gamerati will be helping out, so be sure to give them a warm welcome!

Got some questions about the game and are at ECCC? We'll be having a panel!

Surprise Valentines Update Soul Suckers!
about 7 years ago – Wed, Feb 15, 2017 at 12:02:12 AM

 Hey Soul Suckers,

We have got some cool stuff for you today, and we just couldn't wait until tomorrow to share it out!

To start with we have a new video detailing the gameplay, we think it's pretty awesome and we wanted to share it with all of you.

Next off, we are getting updated 3-D renders that are optimized for manufacturing and we wanted to share two with you: Combat Ash and Evil Ed!

As you can see, they're not 100% different than the original models. They've just been tweaked, poked and prodded until they're optimized for mass manufacturing. As we get more of these in, we'll be sharing larger batches with you. (We just wanted to start with these ones).

And on top of that, Revenge of Evil Ed #1 arrived at the office today!

They will be shipping out separate from the games (at no extra cost) to cameo tier backers, but not until we get addresses finalized for everyone. If you're a cameo backer and really don't want to wait, just message us via Kickstarter or email us at [email protected] and we'll see what we can do to get them to you earlier.

Other than that, our Terminator Board Game launches on Kickstarter tomorrow! You can sign up for our email list here if you want to be notified when it launches. (There are some early bird tiers, so you don't want to miss out!)

Our next update will be on either 2/28 or 3/1 depending on how planning for ECCC is going. In addition, we will be at ECCC! Space Goat Publishing will be in booth #1717, Merch Goat is in booth #831, and you can stop by the Level 2 Meeting Room 204 to demo both Evil Dead 2 and Terminator!

Packing Packing Packing

Hey Soul Suckers!

We hope you're having fun with the print and play! We're hard at work over here getting things ready for you all.

Production updates:

  • Mohamed is working with us to get all the minis and paints optimized. We should have a big update on that with images and everything coming soon, we're hoping for 2/15 but that may change.
  • Print pre-press is 95% done, we're still tweaking some of the verbiage and making sure everything meets high-res board game print standards.
  • We are getting things finalized with our local laser engraver on the cabin dice, so far they are looking really cool, but we want to make sure we get them exactly right before we share photos with you all.
  • All non-game print materials have been printed except for the Deluxe Rule and Art Book. All of the assets for that are done, we just have to wait for our main pre-press guy to get done with the game before he moves onto formatting the book.

Today we spent quite a few hours in the Official Space Goat Storage Unit™ getting stuff ready for backers!

Print and Play!!
about 7 years ago – Mon, Jan 23, 2017 at 12:21:26 AM

Hey Deadite Slayers,

The update took a bit longer than we would've liked, but here's the Evil Dead 2 print and play!

The Game

Instruction Book

Some notes about the print and play:

  • The instruction book is the final one that will be included the game.
  • The print and play is the version we sent to reviewers a few months back which has most of the cards in the final game, but it is NOT the final version.
  • The final version has a few more iterations of playtesting notes included on the player and event cards. (Especially on the severed hand, random sucker, and knight cards.)

Though it isn't the polished version that will be shipping to your doors, it's still a great way for all of you to get a taste of the gameplay. We have had a blast playing it, and we hope you all do too!

Got gameplay questions? Feel free to message us through Kickstarter. We're also doing our best to get our BoardGameGeek presence set up, so we'll be able to answer some questions there. (We'll keep you updated). If you all are interested in doing another game dev q&a on here after you all get a chance to try it out, let us know!

Pre-press is still continuing at a good pace! We almost have all the print components finalized, and now we're just waiting on optimizing figures. In a future update we'll go in depth about what all goes into optimizing a 3-D model into a manufacture-able figure.

Some other misc. updates.

Here's a look at some of the prototypes we have whipped up for it.

Things are real busy at Space Goat HQ, our Terminator and Evil Dead 2 teams are hustling to make some great games. But if you need to get in contact with us, the Kickstarter messages and emailing us at [email protected] are your best bet.

See you all on 2/1 for the next update!

Stay Groovy,

Team Space Goat

COA, Comic Cover and More!
over 7 years ago – Sun, Jan 15, 2017 at 11:12:58 PM

Hey Soul Suckers,

We have a short update for you today since we'll have a second update later this week with something you all have been asking for a while. We think you all are going to be pretty happy with it, but we need to make some final touches before we can share it with you all.

But to whet your appetites until then, here's some cool stuff we've put together:

This is the Kickstarter Exclusive cover of Evil Dead 2:Beyond Dead by Dawn #1 that is included with every game pledge:

Then for all of you who ordered Cabin Dice, we also have the design of the Certificate of Authenticity that will be included for you! The COAs will be numbered, and signed by a Space Goat Official as well as Mike of Evildeadworkshed.com The text/lines on the certificate is NOT final (we know there's more than 500 sets of dice), we just wanted to share the design. We're also looking for some cool matte paper to print it on to make it feel as close to printed on flesh as we legally can.

This is also the last day to get access to add-ons. If you are one of the 289 backers who have not filled out their surveys, we are closing access to add-ons tomorrow. We've already locked in all other pledges to get manufacturing totals. If you don't get your survey filled out be then, we'll work with you to get the add-ons you want, but we can't 100% guarantee that we'll be able to get you everything.

Stay tuned later this week for a big update!

Stay Groovy,

Team Space Goat
